Leadership
Edward Chalfin founded MIE Labs in 2012. He previously founded Integrated Circuit Designs, Inc. (ICD) in 1995 and was responsible for overall management of the company until its acquisition by Texas Instruments in 2007. He continued to work with the group as part of TI LPRF until 2012. His educational background includes a Masters Degree in Business Management from Johns Hopkins University in 1990 and a BSEE from Pennsylvania State University in 1981. He has an extensive history as an analog IC design engineer. He was the Manager of Smart Power Design for Allied Signal Aerospace's Microelectronic and Technology Center, Section Leader for Consumer Product Design at Sprague Electric Semiconductor Division and a Project Engineer for Pulsecom prior to founding ICD. He is the holder of four patents in analog IC design and is a two-time winner of the AlliedSignal Technical Achievement Award.

Advisors
Michael Van der Tol is currently consulting with PMC-Sierra in Burnaby, British Columbia. From 2004 to 2010 he held the position of VP of Engineering & Operations with Kleer Semiconductor Corp (Ottawa, Canada), a pioneer in high-quality wireless audio transmission. In February 2010, Kleer was acquired by SMSC. Prior to joining Kleer, Michael held the position of VP Engineering at IceFyre Semiconductor, a fabless semiconductor company focused on the development of a single chip 802.11a solution for wireless broadcast of HDTV signals. Before working with IceFyre, Michael held the position of VP Strategic Marketing & Product Management at WAVICS, Inc., a fabless RF semiconductor company located in Santa Clara, California. At WAVICS he was responsible for Series B fund raising, securing offshore manufacturing, and product marketing & management. Prior to his role at WAVICS, Michael was responsible for starting up the Canadian operations for Sirenza Microdevices (Sunnyvale, CA). Michael's early career was spent at Nortel, where he was responsible for setting the technical and strategic direction in wireless hardware technology. Michael received his Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1990. He has served on the Board of Directors at Integrated Circuit Designs, Inc. (Baltimore, MD) and on the Technical Advisory Board at Elliptic Semiconductor (Ottawa, Canada).
David M Jones is currently serving as a member of the MIE Labs Board of Advisors. He also serves as a Principal at Next Phase Consulting working with clients in the semiconductor and electronics industry. Prior to that he held the position of Vice President of Precision Analog Products at Texas Instruments from 2007-2010 and Director for Linear Products from 2001-2006. He has also held positions of Design Engineer and Design Engineering Manager of Bipolar and CMOS mixed signal products at Burr-Brown Corporation from 1992 to 2000. Mr. Jones is a holder of six patents in the area of analog IC design and has served on the Intellectual Property Committees for both Burr-Brown and Texas Instruments. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
